In this webinar, Olusola Oyewole (President of the African Association of Universities, AAU) will talk to the “three missions” of African universities and their role as agents of development, and the role of an organization such as the AAU in promoting regional cooperation and integration, as well as in supporting universities with their developmental agendas. Olusola will trace the evolution of the relationship between the AAU, the AU and the Pan African University, as well as offer an analysis of different national and international perspectives on HE policy for development.

Olusola Oyewole is the Secretary-General of the Association of African Universities (AAU), with Headquarters in Accra, Ghana. He is a Professor of Food Science and Technology (Food Microbiology and Biotechnology) at the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria, from where he is currently on sabbatical leave to AAU.
He was the Vice Chancellor of the University from May 2012 to May, 2017. Professor Olusola Oyewole has over 36 years experience working in the African higher education space, and has over 100 scholarly publications to his credit.
