Congratulations to CGHE director David Mills on his appointment to a professorship.
David’s research explores the political economy of global science and its impact on research and publishing cultures in African universities, with a particular focus on inequality, knowledge production and diamond Open Access.
David said: “I am really delighted that my contributions to the field of higher education research have been recognised through my appointment to a full professorship at the Department of Education, University of Oxford.
“I have held a wide variety of leadership roles over two decades at Oxford, and I would like to think that it is still possible to balance research, teaching and service to our many different scholarly communities.
“The Centre for Global Higher Education (CGHE) has been a great platform to promote a community of new and emerging scholars from around the world. This will continue to be my top priority for as long as I remain CGHE director.
“We need to foster a diversity of scholarly voices, to foster inclusive universities and to do research of the very highest quality.
“Our weekly webinars, Annual Conference and early career autumn school are all part of this process, providing supportive feedback and generative peer-review. Our universities matter: they help us make tomorrow’s worlds.”
