Lautaro Vilches

Lautaro Vilches is a researcher, practitioner and consultant in higher education, with extensive experience across Latin America and Europe, currently based in Berlin, Germany. His current research focuses on academic mobility, different rationales underpinning it (from purely academic interests to exile) and the personal and academic implications in times of geopolitical turmoil. He holds a Master’s in Higher Education Studies from the Institute of Education at University College London. In his doctoral research project at Humboldt University Berlin, he described Centres of Excellence as a new university model, examining the implications for collegial practices, (im)mobility and research collaboration, with a particular emphasis on Early Career Researchers.
