CGHE’s Professor Green delivers keynote in Bilbao

Keynote lecture, entitled “Skills Strategy and Tertiary Education”, drew on findings from CGHE project

CGHE’s Professor Francis Green addressed a 300-strong audience assembled in Bilbao, 16th October, for the launch, in the presence of the President of the Basque country, of The Basque Country Competitiveness Report 2019. Are skills the panacea?. This report has been prepared by Orkestra, a leading Basque research institute, part of the University of Deusto.

Professor Green’s keynote lecture, entitled “Skills Strategy and Tertiary Education”, drew on the findings from his CGHE project with Golo Henseke (“The heterogeneity of the graduate labour market in UK and Europe), and on his work with Geoff Mason for UCL’s LLAKES research centre on skills strategy and industrial policy.

He presented the case for considering both the demand for, and the supply of skills in a holistic approach to skills policy-making; he then illustrated his argument with findings on the trends in the supply and demand for tertiary education skills across Europe.
