CGHE Director Simon Marginson named as one of world’s top scientists

Simon Marginson, the director of CGHE and Professor of Higher Education at the University of Oxford, has been named in a list of the world’s top scientists.

The list, released by Elsevier/Scopus and Stanford University, named the ‘top 2%’ of scientists based on citations in 2020.

Simon Marginson was listed at 12,218th place out of 186,178 persons, when self-citations are excluded, suggesting a rank in the top 0.15% of all scientists. Marginson was at 34th place out of 70,063 scientists whose primary field was Education, ranking him in the top 0.05% in Education.

There were also 10 other CGHE researchers past and present who were named in the top 2%: Francis Green (31,951), Ka Ho Mok (47,643), Robert Tijssen (56,629), Diana Laurillard (64,463), Rachel Brooks (101, 567), Jurgen Enders (118,045), Ellen Hazelkorn (139,928), Jenni Case (152,915), Celia Whitchurch (153,424), Rajani Naidoo (157,231).

The criteria for inclusion in the full list of leading scientists were a rank in the top 100,000 by c-score (with and without self-citations) or a percentile rank of 2% or above.
