Panel: Who are our universities for?

Date: Thursday, 11 July 2019 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
Location: Room E101, Department of Engineering, Durham University, South Road, Durham, DH1 3LE

Who do our universities belong to? Are they democratic? What would universities look like if they were open access? In this panel discussion we discuss alternative futures for higher education.

After four decades of neoliberal higher education policy we explore how an alternative system could work and what it should look like. We discuss what would be needed to make structural changes to open up and democratize our universities and how this would fit within broader social and economic changes.
