White Paper launched to implement Hazelkorn recommendations

A White Paper taking forth the Welsh Government’s response to Professor Ellen Hazelkorn’s review of post-compulsory education in Wales has been launched.

Professor Hazelkorn’s recommendations, which included the creation of a new body to oversee further and higher education training, were accepted by the Welsh Government in January this year.

The Tertiary Education and Research Commission for Wales will succeed the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales. The White Paper sets out how it will regulate the skills sector and have responsibility for funding research and innovation.

The formal consultation will run until 23 October. This will be followed by a more detailed technical consultation.
