Published February 2018

Dr William Locke, Dr Richard Freeman and Dr Anthea Rose from the UCL Institute of Education investigate the roles, opportunities and support available for early career researchers in the social sciences in the UK.

The study was commissioned by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) in 2015. It was intended to inform the development of the ESRC’s support for early career researchers during the following five years. An Executive Summary of this report and Methodology Appendix were published in August 2016.
